Migrants' thumbs to be marked by indelible ink in Bengal

Agency News

Midnapore May 30 : A novel way of detecting migratory labourers in West Midnapore District here would be by marking their thumbs, and if necessary index fingers, with indelible ink as done during elections for marking voters. Large quantities of such boxes of ink have been found in the store room of Midnapore Collectorate after the last Parliament Election in the country. 42 of such boxes are being sent to Kharagpur station through which most of the migratory labourers enter the state .

Others coming by different vehicles will also be marked, ADM General Pranab Biswas said. Explaining the method he said the thumb of the right hand will be marked for those who have been sent for home quarantine and index finger will be marked for those who are in government quarantine centres. Such persons who have returned earlier will be similarly marked. Meanwhile the total number of corona affected persons rose to 30 today with 2 more new entrants today, CMOH West Midnapore District said. (UNI)
