Agency News

Haldia, May 18 : With real estate growing up in the city thousands of migratory labourers come and join here in the Industry since the advent of corona and declaring the district as a Red One the brickfields were temporarily closed. But with the demand of a quicker beginning of economic activities in this industrial city brickfields have been permitted to open again.

The migratory labourers are happy over this though the local people are apprehensive over the brickfields with none of them wearing any mask .They say that working without mask may bring corona hazards for the workers as well as common people. Thousands of workers of brickfields have also complained to the panchayat samities but to no avail.

Tilak Chakravarti, vice president of Mahishadal panchayat samity said that they have distributed some masks for workers and have directed the owners to distribute others. The brickfields are spreaded over the River Haldi-in the villages of Balughata Geonkhali, Amritsaria, Kukrahati and bricks exported to Haldia City where large industrial complexes like Indian Petrochemical, Calcutta Port, IOC, Mitsubishi and even to Diamond Harbor and Roychak for good and quality construction works.
