Kolkata, May 10 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the occasion of Mother's day on Sunday greeted all Maa, Amma and Mothers and said, “We respect all mothers like our own mother.” Taking to her tweeter handle, Ms Banerjee said, “Today is #MothersDay.

Greetings to all Maa, Amma and Mothers on this auspicious day.” “ The Mother’s Wax Museum and the Maa Flyover are tributes to them. We also start our slogan with Maa… #MaaMatiManush. We respect all mothers like our own mother,” she said. In another tweet, the chief minister said, “We are committed to the welfare of mothers. Our Govt in #Bangla. Set up Mother & Child Hubs, Started Matri Yan services , Issued Swasthya Sathi smart cards to women, recognising them as head of family and Declared 731 days of maternity leave for female employees.” Famous search engine Google celebrated Mother’s Day on May 10 by introducing an interactive doodle, allowing users to create a heartwarming card for their mothers on this special day.

Introducing the new doodle to the world, Google wrote, "All that glitters is not gold, but sometimes it comes in handy. Whether they're near or far, make Mom a little piece of art from your heart in today’s interactive, digital card-maker Doodle. Happy Mother’s Day!" Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is an annual event but is held at different dates in the calendar, depending on the country.

The second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day in India and some other parts of the world. This year it falls on May 10. Mother’s Day is an opportunity for us to tell our mothers how special they are and what they mean to us. (UNI)
