Kolkata, May 6 : West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar today informed that NAFED has dispatched 9,889 metric ton of masoor dal (red lentil) on May 5as free ration from Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan anno Yojna to West Bengal.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India is an apex organization of marketing cooperatives for agricultural produce in India, under Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.Mr Dhankhar, who has been advocating that the poor and needy people must get free rations (essential food grains) in the time of pandemic, wrote on his Twitter post that 6,800 mt masoor dal has already been received by the state. "The balance to reach in 2 days", he added.
He, earlier had said under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anno Yojna free ration is available for three months with 5 kg rice per person and 1 kg dal for each household per month. " Public distribution system (PDS) needs toning up-plug siphoning/diversion for sharks engaged in black marketing. Reports from several places are worrisome. Officials must do their duty-distance from politics. Poor must get their free ration in the right quantity and quality." (UNI)
