Kolkata, Mar 23: The West Bengal government is actively considering to identify shortly a dedicated and exclusive hospital for treatment of all COVID-19 patients, hours after a 57-year-old man died of deadly virus at a private hospital in the city.
Sources said city's premier medical institution - Kolkata Medical College and Hospital - in central part of the city may be converted to such exclusive and dedicated facility where all types of modern facilities available. Sources said the arrangements are being made for such conversion as the existing patients at the hospital being shifted and the authorities stopped admitting new patient.
The authorities also started releasing the patients, who need not require any more hospitalisation. The sources said once the arrangements are being ready all the COVID-19 patients as well as suspected patients to be shifted to the Kolkata Medical College and Hospital. The 57-year-old man, who was admitted to a private hospital at Salt Lake died around 3 30 pm following massive cardiac failure. He was on life support system. Remaining six patients, three males and as many females with positive coronavirus have been admitted to the ID Hospital. Besides a number of suspects have been admitted to other hospitals. (UNI)
