Islampur, Feb 10 : Eight children among 31 people have been wounded, three of them critically, when their pick-up van in which they were traveling was hit by a goods laden truck in the northern part of West Bengal, North Dinajpur police said today.
The head-on-collision happened near Tarunjeebari on NH 31 at the wee hours today when the victims were returning home on a pick-up van after attending a village fair. All the injured have been taken to the Islampur Mohokuma hospital from where three critically wounded persons have been shifted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital near Siliguri.
Police said the victims had been attending a village fair in Chopra. Most of the injured were small time businessmen. Police seized both the vehicles. (UNI)
