Agency News

Murshidabad: In a spine-chilling incident, three members of a family, including an eight-year-old boy, have been hacked to death by unknown miscreants in their house on Tuesday morning in Murshidabad’s Jiaganj area.

The bodies of Bondhu Gopal Pal, a 35-year-old primary school teacher, his wife Beauty and eight-year-old son Angan were found lying in a pool of blood inside their residence on Tuesday in Jiaganj area of the district, the officer said.

Beauty was eight-month pregnant. Bandhu Prakash was a school teacher who worked in Gosaigram Sahapara Primary School. He also worked as an insurance agent in the area. It is learnt that the neighbours alerted police after they heard loud shrieks from Pal's house. "We heard loud screams from their house. When we rushed there, we saw some people rushing out of the house'" said a neighbour.

Neighbours got alerted after the family did not turn up at the puja pandal on Vijayadashami day.

The neighbours found the body of Bandhu Prakash and his son Angan on the floor in one room. Body of Beauty, lying in a pool of blood, was found in another room. The police found that they were attacked with a sharp weapon, which was found beside their bodies.

Police is now waiting for the post-mortem report to know more. However, no apparent motive behind the murder has been found yet.

According to locals, the Pal family had moved to Jiaganj around six years ago.
