Agency News

New Delhi, Sep 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation has asked the Director General of Police of West Bengal to provide contact details of former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, the sources said.

Rajeev Kumar, who was to join the probe in connection with the Saradha ponzi scam case, has so far failed to appear in front of the agency.

The CBI also constituted special teams to trace the locations and whereabouts of Mr Kumar after he failed to join the probe on Tuesday.

The probe agency had written to the West Bengal Director General of Police and Chief Secretary of the state asking to direct Rajeev Kumar to appear before the CBI on Monday and the DGP had informed the probe agency that it was conveyed to Rajeev Kumar, the sources said.

However, Kumar did not appear before the probe agency on Monday, following which CBI had again asked Kumar to appear on Tuesday at around 1000 hours in the morning , but , he did not turn up either on Tuesday.

The DGP had earlier told CBI that notices were sent to his official residence. However, he is yet to respond to the notices. (UNI)
