Three members of a family killed after the vehicle turned turtle in Nadia

Krishnanagar, Aug 19: Three members of a family were killed and as many were injured when a van in which they were travelling rammed a motorcycle and then turned turtle falling on the occupants in West Bengal's Nadia district, police said today. Among the killed in the mishap mother Rupali Biswas, her preteen son Arpan Biswas and Alpana Biswas. Police investigating the mishap said the small van carrying the trio to Hanskhali first hit a motorcyclist and then turned turtle throwing the three occupants and the vehicle fell on them, while the mother and her son died on the spot, their relative Alpana Biswas succumbed to her wounds in the district hospital early today.

Three others, travelling on the two-wheeler was also injured and admitted to the hospital. The driver of the van fled from the accident site. The agitated local people today put up a road blockade demanding arrest of the fugitive driver, disrupting traffic on the highway connecting Kolkata and north Bengal districts. UNI
