Kolkata, Aug 05: With an aim to ensure the welfare and development of the transgender community, the West Bengal Government has decided to set up Transgender Development Board offices in the districts soon. According to the Minister of State for Woman Development and Social Welfare Department recently, during the function held to inaugurate the new office of the Transgender Board at Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has addressed the issues of transgender people time and again, and it was on her proposal that the board for their welfare and development was set up. The minister said several transgender people have to travel all the way to Kolkata in order to get in touch with the board to raise their problems. Starting transgender board offices in the districts will put an end to their problems.(UNI)
