The West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, has met Mr. Prashant Kishor, fuelling reports that talks are on with the political strategist for the coming state Assembly Elections. There are also reports that Mr. Kishor has agreed to join hands with Ms. Banerjee and will officially begin work after a month.
He held more than two hours talks with Ms. Banerjee, and according to reports she may engage the strategist to halt the BJP's increasing influence in West Bengal ahead of the Elections which are due in 2021.
Ms. Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) could manage to win only 22 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats this time compared to the 34 seats it won in 2014. The BJP, which had just two seats, surprised everyone by inning 18 seats this time.
Mr. Kishor had recently helped Mr. YS Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party register an astounding victory in the Andhra Pradesh elections.
