Kolkata, May 25 (UNI)Mamata Banerjee today offered to resign as the state's chief minister, saying she was unable to perform her duties because of the constraints of the model code of conduct.

Addressing the media, the Trinamool Congress supremo said she had offered to resign but her party refused to accept it.Banerjee further alleged that the BJP had played the communal card in the just concluded elections and programmed the EVMs to win the polls. She was addressing the presser after the Trinamool Congress meeting to review post-result scenario.

She said, "The EC has taken over the state administration for the last five months. We couldn't work. We have never faced this before. Although, we lost seats, our vote share has increased. BJP played the communal card and won... We did not play that card and lost... But winners are winners. I congratulate Modi because all his prophecies proved correct."

“The Central forces worked against us. An emergency situation was created. Hindu-Muslim division was done and votes were divided. We complained to the EC but nothing was looked into."

Banerjee accused the BJP of "spending an unprecedented amount of money" in the Lok Sabha elections."It's a scam. They used government officials to spread money. They removed police officials at the airport to ensure money came in without hassles," she alleged. The West Bengal Chief Minister alleged that the EC, media and judiciary are all under the "BJP's control".

"EVMs were programmed. Else how could the BJP win all seats in Gujarat, Rajasthan... Congress won only one in MP... Congress cannot say anything..but I can speak. BJP is torturing all people... I will request all political parties to protest, " she commented.
