Kolkata, Apr 11: The Bharatiya Janata Parya ( BJP) in West Bengal today filed a complaint against All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O' Brien.
The BJP alleged 'intimidation and vilification' of the Election Commission by Mr O'Brien through a tweet saying, "Don’t smile with a solitary mini lollipop. The Nirvachan Commission has already become the Niraasha Commission. For many people it has become the Nikamma Commission. BJP destroys every institution."
BJP state leaders also complained to the State Election Commissioner regarding violence across 700 booths in West Bengal. They alleged that violence is reported from those constituencies which are under state police.
BJP state vice-president Jayprakash Majumdar has demanded repolling. The BJP also accused TMC after unidentified miscreants allegedly ransacked one EVM at a polling station at Barosholmari area of Coochbeehar. Earlier, BJP candidate Nisith Pramanik claimed that in the Sitai 6/257 and 258 polling booths of Cooch Behar Lok Sabha constituency, widespread rigging was being witnessed.
He alleged that police looked helpless in front of TMC men armed with rods and machetes. Meanwhile, special police observer Vivek Dube told reporters "Polling is underway in a peaceful manner so far. The State police has cooperated in the election process". (UNI)
