Malda, Apr 07 : West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has said the Trinamool Congress can no longer subvert the election process in the state as the central forces will guard the poll booths.
Mr Ghosh, while campaigning for Malda South BJP candidate Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury, made it clear that the BJP would repulse any attempt by the the ruling party to challenge its workers.
Mr Ghosh reached Malda yesterday in the morning and campaigned with the BJP candidate on foot, after addressing an election rally.
" We will retaliate with double the force if they attack us, " he told media persons, indicating a 'tit for tat' approach to counter the Trinamool.
Meanwhile, TMC candidate for South Malda constituency Muazzam Hossain also held a roadshow to seek the support of the voters. He was accompanied by local Zilla Parishad member Haji Qutubuddin and thousands of TMC workers.
Mr Hossain sought the blessings of the elders for his victory, and expressed his affection for the children during the roadshow, in a bid to exhibit his close connection with the people of the constituency.
South Malda, which had remained a stronghold of Congress for decades, will witness a multi-cornered contest with TMC, BJP and the Left apart from the Congress in the fray for the coming Lok Sabha election.
