Kolkata, Mar 28 : The notification for the third phase Lok Sabha election to five Parliamentary seats in West Bengal was issued today by the Election Commission.
Polling for five Lok Sabha constituencies Balurghat, Malda Uttar, Malda Dakshin, Jangipur and Murshidabad will be held in the third phase on April 23.
With the issue of notification, the nomination process began.The last date of filing nomination is April 4.
The scrutiny of nominations will be undertaken on April 5 and last date for withdrawal is April 8. Total number of electorate in Balurghat Lok Sabha seat is 14,27,567 of which 7,34,794 are male and 6,92,716 are female voters.
A total number of 1530 polling stations would be set up for voting.
In Maldaha Uttar Lok Sabha seat, the total number of electorate is 16,81,782 of which 862359 voters are male and 8,19,366 voters are female. Number of booths to be set up in this constituency is 1713.
In Malda Dakshin Lok Sabha seat, the total number of electorate is 15,72,125 of which 7,99,849 voters are male and 7,72,238 voters are female.
Number of booths to be set up in this constituency is 1616. Similarly, total number of electorate in Jangipur constituency is16,12,775 and 8,23,538 of them are male and 7,89,194 are female voters. Number of booths to be set up in this constituency is 1762.
In Murshidabad Lok Sabha seat, total number of electorate is 17,21,932of which 8,81,824 are male and8,40,079 are female voters. Total number of booths to be set up in this constituency is 1907. West Bengal will witness seven phases of election for 42 Parliamentary seats.In the third phase polling will take place on April 23 in five North Bengal districts.
Voting in first phase will take place on April 11, second phase on April 18, third phase on April 23, fourth phase on April 29, fifth phase on May 6, sixth phase on May 12 and seventh and final phase on May 19. Counting will be held on May 23. (UNI)
