Four members of a family burnt alive in Bengal

Agency News

Kolkata, Mar 28 : Four members of a family were burnt to death after their home at Chandanpur in Hooghly's Chinsurah area caught fire in the wee hours on Thursday.

Neighbours noticed that Surat Ali Sheikh's home was ablaze and immediately rescued him and his wife Razina and two minor daughters, Asiana and Afrin, from flames.

They were rushed to hospital at Chinsurah Imamabara where the doctors found all the four had already died. Considering the deaths as unnatural, police is investigating if the family fell victim to a fire accident or was murdered.

However, the investigators are also not ruling out the incident as a case of pact suicide as Surat Ali, a mango trader by profession was in depression, after the recent hail storms destroyed the mango flowers in his orchards. (UNI)
