Kolkata, Mar 25 : Train services between Sealdah and Barrackpore division's main line were affected in peak hours this morning after the BJP supporters headed by their party's Barrackpore seat candidate Arjun Singh squatted on the tracks demanding arrest of TMC Councilor Manaj Guha for allegedly molestating a woman supporter on Sunday.
TMC's district president and state minister Jyoti Priya Mallcik denied the allegation and charged the BJP with beating the Councillor and his brother. He said they would file an FIR at the Jagadall police station.
Sitting MLA Arjun Singh, who recently switched his allegiance to opposition BJP and received nomination to contest from Barrakpore Lok Sabha seat, alleged that the woman was heckled and molested on Sunday by TMC supporters while she was writing on a wall for party campaign.
In order to protest this, the BJP this morning resorted to "rail roko" at Jagatddal station and disrupted the movement of railway traffic between Sealdah's main stations linking the industrial Barrackpore division. Trains have been detained at several stations. The blockade was lifted after the election commission officials assured to look into the matter. (UNI)
