Two nursing students arrested for killing 16 puppies in Kolkata

New Delhi/Kolkata, Jan 16: A couple of days after 16 puppies were found dead on the N R S Medical College and Hospital campus in Kolkata, police have arrested two nursing students for the brutal killings.

Reports reaching the National Capital said that the Kolkata cops on Tuesday arrested first-year nursing student Moutusi Mondal and Soma Burman, a second-year student in connection with the mindless killings in the 'City of Joy'.

Both the nursing students will be produced at a city court on Wednesday. The police concluded that it was a planned murder and at least three others were also involved in the crime.

According to a preliminary post-mortem report, the puppies were bludgeoned with blunt weapons.

The report also suggested that the puppies - all a few inches in length - died of internal bleeding either from the brain or the stomach.

A video of the assault, shot from the second floor of the Dental College Hostel on the campus, has helped investigators identify the accused.

The 'horrendous happenings', against wildlife was strongly condemned by animal lovers, activists, film personalities and general public across the country. (UNI)
