New Delhi, Jan 9: BJP leader and a former aide of Mamata Banerjee - Mukul Roy on Wednesday threatened the Trinamool Congress leadership saying the "countdown" has started for the ruling party in West Bengal.
"Saumitra Khan, TMC MP from Bishnupur joined BJP today in Delhi. Countdown started for Mamata; your MP and MLA’s will leave you one after another," tweeted Mr Roy, who was Railway Minister for a brief period under Manmohan Singh.
He also cautioned the Trinamool leadership that the Lok Sabha polls "will bring an end to your misrule".Mr Roy is known for organisational skills and was founding member of Trinamool Congress when it formed in January 1998 as a breakaway faction of the Congress.
He became Trinamool's face in New Delhi in no time and emerged as the powerful general secretary of the party in 2006. But in the wake of Sharada chit fund scam hitting the Trinamool Congress leaders, gradually his differences with the party leadership increased and he resigned from Trinamool Congress on September 25, 2017.
Mr Roy also quit his Rajya Sabha membership on October 11, 2017 and a month later joined the BJP.In October 2018, Mr Roy was made the convener of the party's election management committee in West Bengal. UNI
