New Delhi, Dec 20: BJP leaders on Thursday welcomed the Calcutta High Court ruling giving green signal to the saffron party's proposed Rath Yatras and rallies in the state.
Among others, BJP in charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya said the court's verdict is "welcome".
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah among others will visit the state and participate at the Yatras," he said. Vijayvargiya, however, said no dates and venues have been finalised yet on the Prime Minister's visit.
"We had faith in the judiciary that we will get justice. This decision is a slap on the face of tyranny," he said.
BJP MP from Asansol and Union Minister Babul Supriyo also welcomed the court orders.
Within minutes of the court verdict in Kolkata, Bengal BJP's Twitter handle said: "Atkano gelo Na. Yatra Hochhe hi""You could not stop us. Our Rath Yatra is on".
On Wednesday, BJP chief Amit Shah had lashed out at the Trinamool Congress dispensation in West Bengal for 'opposing and stalling' the saffron party leaders from addressing public meetings and organising Rath Yatra in the state.
"Kya koi political party ko campaign nahi karne dogey (So you will not allow other political parties to hold rallies)?" Shah has said at Republic Summit organised by Republic TV in Mumbai.
He regretted that it was most surprising that rallies to be addressed by the Prime Minister of the country (Narendra Modi) too were disallowed. (UNI)
