Digital Challenge, Trinamool’s new contest for schools and colleges, off to a flying start

Kolkata, Dec 1: In a new, first-of-its-kind outreach programme, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is organising shows titled ‘Digital Challenge’ in different districts across Bengal .

The first two ‘pilot’ programmes, involving students of colleges and classes XI and XII, were held at Barasat and Baruipur on November 30 and December 1, respectively.

After the huge response to these first two contests, the party is considering rolling out Digital Challenge across the State.

This new series of contests, held in auditoriums, is being conducted by the party to reach youth across the State. Multiple TV award-winning former Quizmaster Derek O’Brien along with Col Diptangshu Chaudhury and Suparno Moitra are conducting the programmes for the All India Trinamool Congress.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and All India Youth president of the party and MP Abhishek Banerjee are driving this initiative. Derek is doing a show on stage after a gap of 10 years.

At Barasat, 206 teams from 61 schools and colleges participated in the first show. Barasat Government College bagged the first prize – a trip to Delhi and a chance to visit the Indian Parliament. Runners up will visit the State Assembly At Baruipur, 216 teams from 15 Colleges and 62 schools participated. Surendranath Law College bagged the first prize.

In this unique initiative, questions are asked on a range of topics, like, different social networks, government schemes, current affairs, Parliament, and, of course, Bangla.

Questions on Ms Banerjee’s life and struggle also feature in the show.

A party spokesperson said, “Political parties have to find innovative ways to connect.

Young people appreciate when you partner them to help them grow. That’s the intention of this first-of-its-kind initiative”. (UNI)
