Kolkata, Oct 13: Cyclone Titli weakened into a deep depression and entered West Bengal last night, triggering incessant rainfall claiming one life in the state.
The cyclone and the accompanying heavy rain have caused damage in Bengal's Jhargram and West Medinipur districts adjoining Odisha.
It left one person dead in West Medinipur district and uprooted trees along state highway number 5, holding up traffic, authorities in the two districts said.
The Regional MeT department said heavy rain occurred over East Medinipur district and heavy rain occurred over West Medinipur,Howrah and Hooghly district of Gangetic West Bengal; Heavy to very heavy rain occurred at one or two places over Odisha today.
Rainfall occurred at most places over Gangetic West Bengal; at many places over Sikkim; Jharkhand, Odisha; at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal; at one or two places over Bihar, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. (UNI)
