Ambassa (Tripura), Oct 07: A youth has been arrested jointly by Tripura police and West Bengal police for making derogatory remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Rohingya issue in Facebook account in the subdivision of Ambassa in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here recently.
According to the information, the youth identified as Tushar Sharma from Thakurpally area in the subdivision has made derogatory remarks using slang languages on Rohingya issue against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on April 14 this year. On April 17, West Bengal Minister Bratya Basu has noticed and informed Bidhannagar police station.
Accordingly, Bidhannagar police station has arrived in Ambassa and has apprehended Tushar Sharma from his residence and has produced him before the court and demanded transit remand. But his lawyer has pleaded to the court that being physically ill it will be hazardous to take him to West Bengal. Then the court has sent him to the three days' jail custody in Kamalpur court.
This incident has revealed the efficiency of West Bengal police in handling cyber crime and the local people have demanded more efficiency of local police in such cases.(UNI)
