Kolkata, Aug 9: Taking a lesson from tent collapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's College ground meeting at Medinipur on July 16 last, the West Bengal BJP has decided to have an open air public meeting during party chief Amit Shah's visit here on Saturday.
A BJP delegation, headed by Kailash Vijayvargiya, national general secretary and in-charge of Bengal, today visited the venue of meeting at Mayo Road in Esplanade area and advised the decorators not to construct any tent or shamiana despite it being the rainy season.
The open air meeting has been decided for Amit Shah in the city after rain triggered collapse of two tents at College ground in Medinipur during the PM meeting mid July.
Some 90 people were injured in the incident.
The BJP delegation has also made a plan to visit Nabanna, the state secretariat, to apprise the State Home Secretary of the details of their meeting and would urge him to inspect the platform being set up by the PWD and police. (UNI)
