QUIZ- To whom are these famous words attributed?

Henry VIII is most famous for his 6 wives, two of whom he had executed. Most British school children learn the following rhyme to help them remember the fate of each wife- ‘Divorced, Beheaded, Died; Divorced, Beheaded, Survived.’

In his youth Henry was handsome and athletic and later grew fat, sported a red beard and dressed wearing clothes set with jewels. This is the image that we recognize. He was a complex person; flamboyant, intelligent, musical, ruthless, arrogant, passionate and a poet.

Henry’s driving desire to beget a male heir lead him to divorce two wives and have two wives beheaded. All this led to a religious revolution and the creation of the Church of England, the dissolution of the monasteries and the Reformation. These and other decisions by Henry were to shape modern England. In 1546, Henry founded Trinity College, Cambridge.

Henry VIII was the second son of Henry VII and was only 17 years old when he ascended the throne.
