Karl Marx

In Karl Marx’s life a regular feature was orders to leave a country within 24 hours. According to his biography the first movement order was in Prussia in1843 when Tsar Nicholas I asked his government to to ban Marx’s newspaper, the Rheinische Zeitung, which resulted in Marx becoming the co-editor of a radical newspaper in Paris and head to France. The French government closed down his new periodical, Vorwarts, and expelled Marx in 1845. He then moved to Belgium but in 1848 the authorities arrested him on allegations that he spent a third of his inheritance on arming workers, and then shifted back to France, under a new government, and shortly later moved to Prussia to launch the doomed Neue Rheinische Zeitung. The government suppressed the paper and ordered Marx to leave Prussia in May 1849. He chose to go to France but as luck would have it, the Parisian government too sent him packing. He sought refuge in London with his wife, who was expecting their fourth child. Later he lived in England, but died a stateless person.
