Uttarakhand registers one more Covid death, tally rises to 173

Nainital, May 23 : Uttarakhand registered another Covid-19 death in the state with twenty fresh cases on Saturday, while the total number of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections mounted to 173.

According to sources, a 55-year-old cancer patient, who had been undergoing treatment at Rishikesh-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and tested positive for the Covid-19 two days ago, died on Saturday morning. This is the second Covid-19 death in the state. On May 1, a 56-year-old woman in the district, who had tested Corona positive at AIIMS, Rishikesh, had died, but the officials said a brain stroke that she had suffered earlier claimed her life.

With the return of migrant labourers stranded at various parts of the country after the ease of lockdown, the state has been witnessing a surge of Covid-19 cases. As a cause of worry, over 75 migrants labourers have tested positive for Coronavirus so far.(UNI)
