Pune, Feb 21 : Thundersquall (with speed of up to 50-60 km per hour), accompanied with lightning and hail, is very likely to occur at isolated places over Uttarakhand during next 24 hours, predicted the India Meteorological Department today. It further said that thunderstorm, accompanied with hail, lightning and gusty wind (with speed of up to 30-40 kmph), is very likely at isolated quarters over east & west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the period.
Thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning, is very likely at isolated tracts over Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the period. Strong winds (with speed of up to 45-55 kmph) are very likely to sweep over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin (Kanyakumari) area, hence fishermen should not venture out in the above mentioned areas during next 24 hours, the Met warned.
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated zones over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and east Uttar Pradesh during past 24 hours. Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most sections in Uttarakhand and Haryana during the period. They had occurred at many belts in west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir during the period. Isolated regions in Arunachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east and west Madhya Pradesh also received the rains during the period.
Dry weather prevailed over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, west Rajasthan, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the period. Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema. They were below par in some locales of Odisha and Kerala.
