Uttarakhand minister Prakash Pant passes away in US

Dehradun, Jun 6: Finance Minister of Uttarakhand Prakash Pant has breathed his last in a Texas hospital in the United States, after battling with cancer for a long time.
He was 58 and leaves wife Chandra Pant and daughter Namita Pant.
The government of Uttarakhand has declared state mourning on Thursday.
According to sources, Pant had been ailing from cancer and was referred to Texas by the doctors of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi. He breathed his last on Tuesday in Texas.

Pant was born on November 11, 1960 in Khadkot village in Pithoragarh district and developed interest in politics during his college days. After the formation of Uttarakhand in 2001, Pant was chosen Speaker. He held important portfolios. (UNI)
