nCoV: 50 new cases in UP's Purvanchal

Gorakhpur, Jun 3 : As many as 50 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in the Basti and Gorakhpur divisions of eastern Uttar Pradesh in the past twenty-four hours, official sources said on Wednesday. According to sources, 85 samples were tested in the Gorakhpur district out of which 75 came back negative and 10 others tested positive.

There are a total of 114 cases in the district as of now and while 25 recovered and went home, seven others had succumbed to the infection. 82 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Sources said that during this time, seven positive cases were reported in Deoria, three in Kushinagar and two in Maharajganj district of the division. Thirteen positive cases were found in Basti, 11 in Sant Kabir Nagar and four in Siddharthnagar district of the Basti division. Commissioner Jayant Narlikar has advised people having complaints of fever, cough or breathing difficulties to contact toll free number 18001805145. He said that the Asha, ANM, Anaganwadi workers will directly provide information about how long the patients have had the symptoms of infection at the toll free number of the COVID control room.

The Commissioner said that if the patient who has the symptoms has contacted a private pharmacy or medical store, the private pharmacists working at these places will also have to provide information about such people at the control room's toll free number. Such individuals can also themselves contact and provide their details. He said that the District Surveillance Officer should ensure that the person whose details have been provided is already registered on the portal and if they are not already registered, then all the samples registered on the COVID-19 portal should be checked.
