Lucknow, Jun 1 : After 68 days of lockdown in four phases to combat Coronavirus pandemic, life in Uttar Pradesh returned to near-normal on the first day of Unlock-1 with offices and shops almost fully functional and vehicular traffic back on the road. Though auto rickshaws and e-rickshaws were not plying as usual and shopping malls, religious places along with hotels and restaurants are to be opened from June 8, the business and other activities have resumed. Government and private offices have started at full throttle while shops were functional from 0900 hrs.
The authorities, including police, were ensuring that shops, offices and others follow health norms like social distancing, use of sanitizers and face masks. A senior official here on Monday said that the government has opened all the sectors except those which are still restricted by the Centre. Strictness will be enforced in the containment zone while in the night between 2100 hrs to 0500 hrs, people will not be allowed to step out without any valid reason, the official maintained.
Meanwhile, the life line of the public transport system, UPSRTC buses started plying from 0800 hrs in the morning and several inter district buses have started their journey with limited passengers after thorough health checking. UPSRTC Managing Director RajShekhar , who himself reached Kaiserbagh bus station in the state capital to monitor the launch of the buses, said that around 7500 buses have been deployed on Monday. "Every passenger is being thermal scanned and sanitized before entering in the buses while the employees too were adopting all precautionary measures.
