Lucknow, May 27 : Even as the Uttar Pradesh government was preparing skill mapping of 2.5 million migrant workers, who have returned to the state during the national lockdown, the industries have shown interest in giving employment to over five lakh workers and have contacted the government on this matter.
The government said that migrant workers getting training in the industry would be given stipend and apprenticeship allowances. The issue came for discussion during the Team 11 meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, here on Wednesday.
'The industries have demanded five lakh skilled and unskilled workers in the first phase from the skill mapping by the industries so far," an official to the CM said here. However, Mr Adityanath has directed the officials to go for survey of the industries and their employment requirements. 'Every industry in the state should go for strengthening of the workforce, so that each industrial unit can absorb at least one to 10 migrant skilled and unskilled workers," he said.
The Chief Minister made it clear to the officials that the industries should be provided all facilities without any hurdle, so that they expand their production by giving employment to the migrants. 'Besides, the supply chain of the industries should also be taken care of, so that they don't face any problem in raw material or selling their finished products," he said. More (UNI)
