Lucknow, May 26 : Intense heat continued to sizzle Uttar Pradesh with Prayagraj being the hottest district in the state in the past 24 hours with maximum temperature hovering around 47 degree Celsius.
According to the weather department, no relief is expected till Wednesday. However, the northern region of the state is expected to witness thunderstorms, strong winds and rains after the next two days. Other parts of the state will also witness relief and there is possibility of rain and strong winds after the next three days.
Water coolers and hay curtains were also put up in Lucknow and Kanpur zoos to protect the animals from the scorching heat weather conditions prevailing in the state. Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius on Tuesday while Jhansi saw maximum temperatures rising to 46 degrees while minimum temperature was recorded at 31 degrees.
Agra recorded a maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius with minimum temperature recorded at 29 degrees on Tuesday. Kanpur recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees on Tuesday. (UNI)
