Lucknow, May 24 : Uttar Pradesh reported 64 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, pushing the infection tally in the state to 6,081. There are 2,493 active cases, 3,433 people have recovered while 155 people have succumbed to the contagion so far.
State Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said here that on Saturday, 7574 samples were tested and a total of 1094 pool tested, of which 172 were found positive. As many as 2686 people have been admitted in the isolation ward of the Covid hospital and 10,540 were in institutional quarantine. He said ASHA workers have screened 8,03,147 migrant workers in home quarantine, of which 873 workers were detected with Covid symptoms.
"We have asked for strict surveillance of the migrant workers under home quarantine, as positive cases surged with the labourers influx," he said. Mr Prasad said health department contacted 32,091 people through Aarogya Setu App, of which 88 are coronavirus positive, 47 have recovered and around 1099 people are in quarantine. The health official said that over 3,000 hospitals, including government and private, have started emergency services. "We have decided to commence emergency surgery at the hospitals but general OPD would continue to remain suspended," he added. (UNI)
