Panaji, May 21 : Special Train Shramik Express of Konkan Railway left from Margao Railway station to Uttar Pradesh (UP) with passengers of Fatehpur, Banda, Amethi, Auraiya, Barabanki, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur, Mahoba and Mainpuri districts of UP on May 20, 2020, carrying 1464 passengers on board. Similarly Special Train Shramik Express departed from Margao to Uttar Pradesh (UP) with passengers of Etawah, Hamirpur, Sitapur, Unnao, Hardoi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Kheri, Lucknow and Raebareli districts of UP from Madgaon Station carrying 1520 passengers on board the same day. Considering both, altogether four Shramik Express trains left for UP.
Till now a total 13 special trains have left from Goa. SP South Arvind Gawas, IPS; Special Additional Collector Sanjiv Desai; SP, Sammy Tavares and other senior officers of district administration were present and the entire operation was monitored by District Magistrate South Goa Ajit Roy, IAS. The people who boarded on the train were stranded in Goa due to ongoing nationwide lockdown. A proper medical screening and other formalities of the passengers were carried out before they boarded on both trains. In the meanwhile, a bus arrived with 20 passengers from Bangalore and one bus arrived from Kerala via Mangalore route with six passengers, including five from Kerala and one from Karwar. (UNI)
