UP: 5 vegetable vendors, child killed in two separate road accidents; 13 injured

Etawah, May 20 : Five vegetables vendors were killed while one sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between a truck and pickup lorry here on Wednesday morning. SSP Akash Tomar said that the vendors were going to the mandi in the pickup lorry when the accident happened. The deceased were native of the Bakewar area of the district.

According to the police, the driver and owner of the truck have been detained while the vehicle has been seized. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the mishap and announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The CM has directed the officials to provide all medical assistance to the injured.

Meanwhile, in another accident in Kanpur, a child was killed while 12 migrant workers were injured in a collision between two trucks in Bilaur area late Tuesday night. Police sources here on Wednesday said a truck was going towards West Bengal with 45 migrants from Haryana when it collided with another truck near Nanamau area. In the accident, a four-year-old boy was killed while 12 others received injuries. Among the injured one was stated to be critical. (UNI)
