Lucknow, May 19 : Covid-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh touched 5K-mark, recording 4,926 infections on Tuesday. According to the health department updates, the death toll now stands at 123 with five fatalities over the past 24 hrs. The sudden spike in positive cases is attributed to the surge of migrants from states like Maharashtra and Gujarat. Basti districts in the state also recorded 44 positive cases in a single day. As per the recent updates, the state has recorded a recovery rate of 40 per cent with an increase in the number of patients recovering in comparison to detection of new cases for the past one week now. A total of 2,918 patients have recovered including 135 on Tuesday, whereas the total number of active patients stands at 1,885.
Fresh deaths were reported from one each in Meerut, Ferozabad, Varanasi, Badti and Jalaun. Now the deaths were reported were one each at Lalitpur, Mohaba, Azamgarh, Amroha, Kushinagar, Prayagraj, Etah, Hapur, Shravasti, Bareilly, Kanpur Dehat, Pratapgarh, Bulandshahar and Lucknow,20 in Meerut, 11 in Moradabad, 5 in Firozabad, 4 in Jhansi, 5 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, 2 in Ghaziabad, 2 in Jalaun, 2 in Basti, 8 in Aligarh,27 in Agra, 8 in Kanpur, 2 in Mainpuri, 3 in Sant Kabir Nagar, 4 in Varanasi and 4 in Mathura. According to the health department report, new cases reported in the past 24 hrs are as follows: 12 in Agra, 1 in Kanpur, 11 in Lucknow, 31 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, 1 in Saharanpur 2 in Ghaziabad, 11 in Moradabad, 11in Varanasi,21 in Aligarh, 44 in Basti, 14 in Bulandshahr, 4 in Hapur, 13 in Rampur, 11 in Bahraich, 6 in Rae Bareli, 1 in Mathura, 3 in Bijnor, 4 in Prayagraj, 7 in Pratapgarh, 7 in Ghazipur, 1 in Sant Kabir Nagar, 5 in Gonda, 3 in Lakhimpur Kheri, 5 in Balrampur, 1 in Muzaffarnagar, 12 in Kaushambi, 1 in Sultanpur, 12 in Deoria, 8 in Mainpuri, 6 in Mirzapur, 9 in Pilibhit, 14 in Fatehpur, 3 in Maharajganj, 5 in Shravasti, 2 Ambedkarnagar, 2 in Gorakhpur, 3 in Bareilly, 2 in Farrukhabad, 1 in Hardoi, 1 in Chitrakoot, 5 in Kasganj, 5 in Chandauli and 2 in Kushinagar. According to the reports, the cumulative number of passengers under observation as on today was 2,84,538, the total number of symptomatic travellers identified in UP till date were 62,335 and number of symptomatic travellers hospitalised was 2,132. It further said that the total number of people under institutional Quarantine was 12,427 and travellers who have completed 28 days observation period was 1,19,545. The total number of samples sent for testing was 1,82,184 in which 4,926 were found positive while 1,75,412 were negative and 1846 are awaited.
Till date, 4,04,635 travellers from corona affected countries and different States have been identified and tracked by District Surveillance Units, WHO-NPSP teams and supervisors of RNTCP. Around 2,82,406 travellers being tracked today are under home isolation. Altogether 15,088 contacts of various positive cases are also being tracked and are in fine health. Officials said of the total cases 1,304 are of Tablighi Jamaat and their contacts. (UNI)
