Lucknow, May 15: Uttar Pradesh government on Friday announced a complete ban on migrants returning to their native places on foot or any other vehicle except for ones provided by the government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed all the DMs and SPs to ensure that no one travels on foot, two-wheelers or on trucks in their areas and asked the concerned police stations near the highways to ensure strict patrolling and to arrange vehicles for transporting these migrant workers to their homes after providing them food, drinking water and health check-up.
''Every police stations should set up a team to ensure transport and other facilities to the migrant workers. The district administration should hire private buses to ferry them by Roadways buses," State Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awnish Awasthi quoted the CM as saying. But in no way people would be allowed to travel in foot or on any truck , the CM said strictly.
"As a good gesture, the CM has said that every person entering the state should be welcomed with a bottle of water by the police and upon giving them food and ensuring their health check up, make available buses for their onward journey," Awasthi stated. (UNI)
