Ballia, May 11 : One individual tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia on Monday. The patient had returned to the district from Ahmedabad and had been quarantined. District Magistrate Hari Pratap Shahi here said that Ballia, which was till now in the green zone, reported its first COVID-19 positive case on Monday.
He said that the infected youth, hails from the Chand Diyar village in the Bairia area and had reached Jaunour along with 10 other friends from Ahmedabad on May 4. He was subsequently sent to Ballia after a thermal screening in Jaunpur. All the people had been quarantined at a school once they arrived in Ballia while their samples had been sent for testing. The youth tested positive as per the reports obtained on Monday. The DM said that the rest nine people have tested negative, adding that since one person tested positive, the rest will be put in institutional quarantine and their samples will be sent for testing.
