Lucknow, May 7: Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday asked the authorities to ensure that people strictly follow lockdown norms especially in all the hotspots as these account for around two-thirds of the total positive cases.
"We are regularly giving directions to the districts to strictly comply with the lockdown norms in the hotspots so as to contain the spread of the virus," said the state's Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awnush Awasthi here. He said the total number of positive cases in the state was 3059, of which the hotspot areas account for 1948 cases. The ACS said that there are 453 hotspots in the state under 287 police stations covering 8.18 lakh houses and 46 lakh population. On availability of ventilators for critical COVID patients, he said that government has purchased 40 new ventilators which will be installed in the district hospitals, which lack such facilities." The government has given orders of more ventilators and it will certainly strengthen the health facilities in the districts and now every district has ventilators though in some small districts had just two ventilators," he added.
