Lucknow, May 1: Samajwadi Party has demanded the convening of the special session of the Uttar Pradesh assembly to discuss the crisis arising in the wake of the pandemic COVID-19. The special session would debate over the measures to fight the pandemic and crisis and how to provide immediate relief to the people worst affected by the crisis.
"The Yogi Adityanath government should not hesitate in convening the special session of the state assembly as the two special session of the assembly were convened in 2019 to debate the millennium development goals set by UNO and Constitution day on November 25", said Akhilesh Yadav here on Thursday. "Over a month has passed since the nationwide lockdown was imposed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. People are locked inside their homes yet there is no let-up in the spread of the pandemic", said SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
He said the public health infrastructure of the state is unable to cope with the crisis caused by the COVID 19 and the general patients suffering from other diseases are suffering due to the pandemic. He said the long lockdown has aggravated the crisis faced by the common people. "The common people are scared by the treatment of the suspected coronavirus patients and confusion prevails over the numbers of people affected by the virus as adequate number of rapid test kits are not available,’’ said Yadav.(UNI)
