Lucknow, Apr 24 (UNI) Two pregnant women have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Etawah and Ayodhya district of the state, health officials said on Friday.
A report from Etawah said that a pregnant woman was admitted to the Saifai PGI on April 21 and tested positive for the virus. On Thursday afternoon, the woman delivered a healthy baby, who is currently under observation. Meanwhile, the patient has been kept in an isolation ward.
Post the delivery, the entire team of 14 doctors and nurses, who operated upon the woman, was sent to quarantine. The results of the family members of the woman are awaited.
A similar case was also reported from the Ayodhya district of the state on Thursday making her the first COVID-19 patient here. District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha said today that the woman was shifted to Level 2 dedicated COVID hospital in Sultanpur.
Mr Jha said that a private pathology had tested the pregnant woman though she did not have any symptoms at that time. She might have contracted the virus during her recent stay in Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, the Ayodhya district authorities have sealed Sanethu, the village of the woman, and her family have been sent to quarantine. Chief Medical officer (CMO) Dr Ghanshyam Singh said that testing would be done of the villagers and her family members. Dr Singh has directed the concerned doctors of L2 Covid hospital in Sultanpur for safe delivery of the woman.
A private hospital, where the woman was admitted for a brief period, have been sealed too and doctors and other staff of the hospital quarantined.(UNI)
