Bahriach, Apr 12 : As many as 17 persons of foreign origin, who attended Tablighi congregation in Delhi, were sent to jail after their quarantine ended, police sources said here on Sunday,
The accused, belonging to Indonesia and Thailand, were charged for violating visa and passport norms. Police had arrested 21 Jamaatis including 17 foreign nationals from Taj and Kuraish mosques in the districts on March 3. "Post quarantine, they were produced before a magistrate, who sent them to jail," sources said.
All the 21 jamaatis had tested negative for Coronavirus. Police had registered cases under section 269,270,271,188 of the IPC , section 3 of the Epidemic Act, section 12(3) of Passport Act, Section 14(b) and 14(c) of the Foreigners Act and Section 56 of the Disaster Management Act. (UNI)
