COVID-19: Positive cases go up to 387, Curfew in over 100 hotspots in UP

Lucknow, Apr 9: The number of positive cases of Novel Coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh rose to 387, after 27 new cases were reported on late Wednesday, Health department sources said here on Thursday.

They said the highest increase was reported in Agra, where the total number swelled to 84. Among the new cases, 19 were reported from Agra, four from Lucknow, two in Sitapur and one in Hardoi. The number of COVID-19 patients in the state was 361 on Wednesday night, as per the government figures.

The state government has gone for a total lockdown or curfew at over 100 hotspots in 15 districts of the state since midnight. This curfew will continue till the morning of April 15.

Agra and Gautam Buddha Nagar district have the maximum number of 22 hotspots, followed by 13 in Ghaziabad, 12 in Lucknow and 10 in Kanpur. Four deaths have been reported so far, with one each casualty reported from Basti, Meerut, Varanasi and Agra, due to the dreaded virus.

However, 27 patients have also recovered during this period. A report from Agra, quoting District Magistrate Prabhu Narain Singh, said that 19 new COVID19 cases were confirmed on Wednesday night, taking the total number in the district to 84. (UNI)
