Lucknow, Mar 5 : As a precautionary measure in view of the coronavirus, Lucknow District Magistrate (DM) Abhishek Prakash stopped the open sale of meat and fish in the state capital on Thursday. Although the order was in effect since before, it was not being followed sincerely and nonvegetarian items like meat and fish were being sold in the open.
Now, the DM has again stopped the same. Alongside, hotels and restaurants have also been directed to pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene and that the food should be cooked properly. The DM said that if meat and fish, bought from open areas, is prepared at hotels, action will be taken in the matter. The DM has also banned boiled non-vegetarian food.
Despite the orders, the sale of meat and fish is done openly in a certain area of the state capital. Moreover, several people have encroached the newly-constructed drain and have put up stalls of non-vegetarian items.
