The murder of a rape victim's father, suspected to be by the accused, in Uttar Pradesh late on Monday has led to suspension of two police officials.
An inspector of Shikohabad and a station house officer of Kotla Road were suspended for deriliction of duty.
According to reports, the rape accused had threatened that if they did not withdraw the case against him, he would finish them off.
The family said they had informed the police about this but no action was taken.
On Monday night, when the victim's father was returning home after work, the accused is said to come in the way at Tilak Nagar, shot him and fled. The victim died instantaneously.
With the accused, Aachman Upadhyaya, still on the run, the police have set up five teams and expect to nab him soon. He is accused of rape at Shikohabad in August 2019.
