Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha leader Ranjit Bachchan's wife has said that her husband was killed by those who want to muzzle the ideology of the Hindutva.

She also revealed that her husband was constantly receiving threatening calls and messages from radical groups. " They earlier killed Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari and now my husband has also been brutally murdered," India Today TV quoted Ranjit Bachchan's wife Kalindi as saying. Kamlesh Tiwari, another hardcore Hindu Mahasabha leader was killed by slitting his throat with knife after bullet shots.

She added: "Yesterday was his birthday and after performing hawan along with his workers, Ranjit delivered a speech in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC)."

"Ranjit didn't file a police complaint on the threats he was receiving. He was confident that he will never be harmed under the Yogi Adityanath government. We lost our child a few years ago and now, I have suffered another unbearable pain. The perpetrators behind this brutal murder should be arrested soon and the strictest possible action should be taken against them," Bachchan's wife said.

Ranjit Bachchan was taking a stroll in Hazratganj area on Sunday morning when some unidentified assailants opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. The Mahasabha leader was shot in the head.
