Lucknow, Jan 14: Swantra Deo Singh would be formally elected as the president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP after the organisational polls here on January 16, election officer and state urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon said here on Tuesday.
The nomination process including scrutiny and withdrawal would be held on January 16 and if required then polling and counting of votes on January 17.
As there would be only the nomination of present BJP president Swantra Deo Singh as the candidate, hence he would be elected unopposed, sources said.
During the president election process, to be held at the state party headquarters here, the central party has appointed general secretary Bhuoendra Yadav and former Bihar BJP president Mangal Pandey as observers.
The filing of nominations would be held 2pm to 4pm, then scrutiny between 4pm and 5pm and thereafter withdrawal between 5pm and 6pm all on January 16.
The new UP BJP president would be announced at 1800 hrs on January 16 after end of the withdrawals. (UNI)
