Director General of Police Om Prakash Singh has said that around 23 PFI activists were arrested till now in the anti-CAA protests from various violence-hit areas in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath-led state government has already sent a report to State Home Ministry to ban PFI in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, higher police officials are of the opinion that the PFI activities should be strictly blocked to stop violent protests against CAA in Uttar Pradesh.
" We have got significant information from the arrested PFI members but cannot disclose it at this point in time. "....much of this information is shocking and destabilising. First of all, we need peace and amity. If peace is there, then only can there be law and order," UP DGP Om Prakash Singh revealed in an interview with news agency IANS.
“The state police has obtained enough evidence and witnesses to build a tight case for banning the organization. But now almost everything has been decided. The state police HQ will soon recommend to the government that the PFI be banned in public interest," he added. During the protests, the PFI members were active in Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnor, Barabanki, Gonda, Bahraich, Varanasi, Azamgarh and Sitapur areas, said the UP Police.
