Amethi, Sep 12 : Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textile Smriti Irani on Thursday honoured the Asha Bahus in her Amethi Parliamentary constituency and laid foundation of the Kitchen garden scheme in 638 primary schools.
"I am very fortunate that I am representing Amethi in the Lok Sabha. The people here have given a clear message that they have elected their elder sister and now my duty is to honour them. I am ready to serve them and do what ever development works required in the Constituency," she said while honouring the Asha Bahus here.
"I am ready to serve you 24 hours a day and people of Amethi can meet me here or in Delhi any time in connection with the development and welfare of the constituency," she said.
Claiming that the 100 days of the second term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already linked 6 crore farmers with Kisan Samman Fund, Ms Irani said in Amethi too, Rs 225 crore have been spent for 210 schemes launched. Besides Rs 800 crore have been spent alone in Amethi in the past 100 days which includes Rs 550 crore spent by the railways.
On the occasion, she also laid the foundation for the kitchen garden scheme in which 638 schools will be constructed with a cost of Rs 95.70 lakh.
BJP Amethi MLA Garima Singh lauded the importance of Asha Bahu to serve the women by providing them medical help during pregnancy. Besides she said that Kitchen Garden project will also help the primary children in their midday meal distribution.(UNI)
